never think u always need money...lesson learnt

So i've worked 5 and Unied 4 days straight. Sure i'll be healthy in the pocket but i think its taken a toll on my body and my assignment.

My cones never arrived..

Problems with the courier means i don't recieve my cones for this project. They were expected last friday to put the finishing touches to my model but unfortunately i'll have to use a non-calapsable cone to demonstrate my table. would have been so cool though! Here is what i have atm... The concept table at full height. don't be mistaken! its not a normal table! its raises from Coffee table height (38cm) to a standard height table (70cm).

hmmm...industrial [ish]

Notice the gas lift actuator. Smooth lifting and lowering is achieved by a central lifting cylinder. Capable of lifting 1t. i like! its orange too.

Similar products on the market... Not targeted at my market though.

2 Gas lift Tables made by Clinton that can be raised from 60 - 90cm. My aim is to create a coffee table at around 38cm that can then transform into a small dinning table at roughly 70cm. The minimum height can not be less than half the maximum height.

Screw lift approach

Mechanical Screw Lifts - Normally used for Auto Mechanic purposes. I could use a similar system to be incorporated into my design. Obviously a less heavy duty means would be sufficient.
another design..

bring the street to the living room

i've done a tone of sketches and this should what my final concept looks like.
Im playing around with MDF and PVC piping. but the whole idea is that it looks like the table sits on a soft rubbery witches cone. Final Table top materials would be a frosted acrylic or polycarbonate with smooth beveled sides.

Aveeno presents - Julian Beever

Julian Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l'œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. His works are created using a projection called anamorphosis, and create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle. Some really amazing stuff!

Yeeeha! Catch me a wild one!

Once i clean up my room and have enough room i could imagine having this in my room! (even a graffiti artist would appreciate this one!) "Catching the Wild" designed by Stolenwood Studio

Vaka

A floor lamp with removable bulbs - its tree like design with glowing orbs, it sets a relaxed mood to the room. I love the practicality of the removable globes as mobile torches and or candle light. Super fresh design! i like:)

Flexibin

I had a conversation at work the other day about "nice bins". All a bin needs to do is hold trash and try to be as easy to use as possible? Well i might have found a bin i like - the Flexibin designed by Li Jianye. Like to reuse those plastic bags collected in your laundry? With its flexible wire frame, the bin can hold any size plastic bag

Silky Snappy Snake

We are always in need of a USB cable to charge up a phone, an i-pod or load up digital photos from our camera, yet carrying around a USB cable can be quite bothersome and frustrating when we can’t find it. With the Lisco USB Snake by Laurent Hongisto, just slap the USB snake on your wrist and not only will you look fashionable, but you will also never have to go searching for your USB cable again. Resembling the ever stylish slap bracelet of the 90s, this USB snake is covered in a silky and soft polyurethane material making the cable stylish and comfortable enough to wear on your wrist.

Banksy's Street art and more

I enjoy creative street are such as the works of Banksy.

Style Wars

Graffiti as we know it today. The beginnings of Graffiti can be misunderstood sometimes - I watched this and learned a lot about the history, reasons, and inspirations for this anarchistic art form. God bless Youtube - 8 parts of this doco.

Reverse Graffiti

My friend Wes found this on Rubyhornet.com.

Uni cogs in the works

This blog was created mainly for the uni purposes; ides2162. I'll take the opportunity and use it for personal use too so its not so repetitive. Research, communicate, collate and process. The forefront of the blog will contain research into the Generation Y subculture - Graffiti artists.

aka. 13 Itches

A group of my friends and I merged to begin a creative collective group who wanted to spawn and explore the art, design and culture of Sydney and step foot to the rest of world. We called it 13 Itches. Staging up to an official launch of this group, we created a blog where each of us are open to write anything that we regarded relevant to our cause. From local and foreign works; big or small; if we found it inspirational for personal reasons; and even up and coming gigs or exhibitions; we try to give a taste of it. Hope you enjoy it.
